Local Jazz Free Show! Great friends, playing jazz ... and enjoying every moment of it. The quartet features some of the most respected musicians in the Williamsport (PA) area, and their song selections range from classic standards like "Stella By Starlight" to more funky, contemporary tunes like Herbie Hancock's "Watermelon Man."

» Girls, Guns, & Glory |
02-11-2010 |
Americana/Country/Rock www.girlsgunsandglory.com www.myspace.com/girlsgunsandglory Must See Free Show! 9pm-12am Girls, Guns & Glory formed in Scituate, Massachusetts in the winter of 2005 when former band-mates and high school friends, Ward Hayden (lead vocals/acoustic guitar) and Bruce Beagley (bass), teamed up to record Ward’s original compositions. They entered Noise in the Attic Studio and began work on the GG&G debut CD “Fireworks and Alcohol.” The success of that release fueled the formation of a 5-piece lineup that began to work the New England club scene in earnest. Their sophomore release, “Pretty Little Wrecking Ball”, in February of 2007, proved to be the catalyst in a break-out year for the band as they collected 2 Boston Phoenix awards, numerous articles in the press, and lots of radio play - culminating in a Boston Music Award for “Outstanding Americana Act of the Year”. The band solidified it’s lineup as a strong 4-piece featuring John Graham on drums and Colt Thompson on guitar.

» Michael Morrow & the 21st Centurians Mardi Gras Show! |
02-13-2010 |
Funk/Psychedelic/Jam Band www.myspace.com/mm21cents MM21Cents.com Must See Show! 10 PM - Close / Five Dollars Bullfrog Debut! Twentyfirst Centurians are a powerfunk jamband from Philadelphia with a unique, yet familiar sound that captivates, moves and engages the most discerning fans. Led by veteran psychedelic guitarist Michael Morrow, the group affectionately known as "21 Cents" rests on the bomb-ass pocket of drummer Gerald Williams and the amazing Ryan Hickey on bass keys/organ. Described by a fan as "...like Soulive with Garcia sitting in at Maceo's birthday party..." MM and 21 Cents are one of the most talked about and upcoming jam acts on the East Coast. Last Spring they were voted winners of Relix Jam-Off Contest 2009, and was also featured on the RELIX compilation disc and in the September edition. A Rochester NY promoter told the crowd at his recent festival "...see this band now, right before they make it..."
Main man Michael Morrow has remained a sought after touring guitarist and vocalist, performing across the US for over a decade, working with touring acts like Living Earth (Relix), Mystic Rebel, Ihi Yahn Ihi Arkestra (Inity) and Slide (Ikon). Michael also recently produced music for developing artists like Funk Church, Shan Egan, TV music for Phila based firm St. Lewes Productions, voice-over sessions and also placed songs in the award winning film "No Boundaries". Brookyn drummer Gerald Williams spent years with Mark Furman Band and provides the most killer grooves imaginable. But even with those three big hitters, the notable member is brilliant keyboardist Ryan Hickey, who does a magical job of whipping up sticky funky bass lines with his left hand and soulful organ with his right. The band has been recieving rave reviews for it's unique and power packed jam funk approach and catchy, street wise songs.

» Zach Deputy |
02-15-2010 |
Roots Rock/Blues/Soul/Hip-Hop/Calypso/Reggae www.zachdeputy.com www.myspace.com/zachdeputy Must See Show! 9pm-12am / taking door donations There is nothing out there like Zach Deputy. Truly a one-man band, he is a powerhouse of performance, technical chops, and one hell of a charismatic presence. Put simply, Zach Deputy does what is called live looping: layering sounds through the magic of technology to create a full band effect. He isn’t the only performer out there doing this, but he has taken the technique to the next level. First and foremost, however, Zach Deputy is a songwriter, a shredding guitarist and a soulful singer with a 4+ octave vocal range. He can also drop freestyle rhymes with the best of them. The Zach Deputy sound is essentially roots rock, but in his case the roots are in soul, calypso and dancehall, underpinned by driving hip-hop, rock steady, Motown and Stax backbeats created with his layered vocal beatboxing. On top of the backbeat, Zach Deputy’s nylon strings pull multiple duties as bass, rhythm and lead guitar. Riding over that, a plethora of sounds-- keyboard, steel drums and an entire horn section-- come pumping and grinding out of the speakers when Zach takes the stage. He is a one man dance party, but he can also bring an audience to rapt attention with a heartfelt love ballad. Hailing from the South Carolina coast, Zach Deputy has infused his earthy blues, roots-rock and soul with hip-hop beats, dance hall rhythms and a bit of the tropical humidity of Calypso and reggae. Maybe it is a natural result of living and performing along the Southeast's beaches for the last four or five years, maybe it is a conscious desire to spice up the intuitive simplicity of his native, regional R&B with the exotic rhythms of the islands. It could even be Zach's family roots in Puerto Rico and St. Croix. Either way, the result is an original sound as comfortable and accessible as worn flip-flops, open and inviting like a seaside cabana and full of flavor surprises like a New Orleans gumbo.
